We went Paris for a couple of reasons - Haim had a board meeting he really didn't want to miss, but more importantly, we wanted to catch the rock opera our son-in-law Christopher Is staring in before it closes at this venue, and goes on tour. Paris was a treat, as always. Chris was great - and we loved the show, Cleopatra. Though jet lag has me completely upside down, I am happy we made the trip. Now I am gearing up for my book party on the 23rd - feeling the butterflies starting to flutter in my stomach. I am excited!

It's Sunday, and I'm relaxing. It doesn't sound so terribly newsworthy, but I realize more and more these days that taking time to stop, breathe, look in awe and wonder at nature, and just basically "chill out" takes concerted effort! But the older and perhaps wiser I get, the more I know this 'effort' is worthwhile. So, right now, I am watching a flock of birds bobbing on the ocean. I am enjoying the twinkling way the sunlight reacts on the never-ending undulations of the water. I am impressed by the power and sound of the waves, even in a relatively calm sea. And, I am relaxed. Thanks, God. In and out. This deep breath was particularly delicious!

Beloved Aspen

Here I am in my most preferred mountain retreat, doing things I don't do very often anywhere else. For example, a black and white malted shake from Boogies. It's delicious - the old-fashioned soda fountain type of shake where they give you the stainless blending container with the extra! It's like getting a malt and a half. There is a fresh dusting of powder on the runs, so it is almost time to gear up and get out! Photos to follow.

My hubby and I are eating separately tonight as we both had meetings in different parts of the city, and will meet up for a meeting "together" later. But I just need to report that I found this adorable Italian restaurant in Brentwood that I've never been to before, and the meal was fabulous. I'm sipping this lucious cappucino now, and feeling pretty content. Next time I'll make sure I have my "squeeze" by my side so he can enjoy it too.

The sea is soothing. There is something spiritual and calming about the motion, the continuity, the effortlessness and the resilience of the ocean. Whenever I feel low, a walk along the shore can lift me up.

We celebrated New Year's eve at the Tamarindo resort in Mexico. Yesterday, I was knitting woolen mittens at our casita, which sat on a bluff overlooking a beautiful bay. It was kind of bizarre to be working with wool in the hot, humid weather, but oh well. I like my hobbies, what can I say?

Back home to rainy Los Angeles. I am glowing and a little sore from the spectacular day of "powder" skiing we had today. My adorable grandkids are getting to be great little skiers, and they both love fresh powder! Whee. Another lovely, loving family vacation for the memory book. Now, it's time to do some Christmas cooking!

One clear day

We are in a frosty, winter wonderland. This is one of the only clear-sky days we had, so we took advantage of it for a quick group photo. We are thrilling!

Frosty

Today is spectacularly clear, and COLD! The kids made Frosty The Snowman yesterday, and he's particularly happy about the nippy weather. We humans are wearing extra layers today to stay warm. But we are anxious to get out on the slopes! Wahoo!!
